Welcome to Puff Babies

We are a CFA, Registered cattery, which breeds chocolate and bi-color chocolate Persian kittens. The kittens can be adopted as pets or show cats.  Our adult Persian cats have a quality blood line. Our cattery is small, and we want to keep it that way.  Our adult cats are not only breeders, they are our pets!  They sleep with me, help me on the computer, play with everything they can find, and are given much love and care so that they are healthy and happy cats!  We are located in Central Texas, between Austin and Waco.

What is a Persian cat?

If you've never been around a Persian, you have really missed a good time!  Most cats are aloof, will allow you to pet them occasionally, when they feel like it, but most of the time, end up as a decoration on your windowsill (which has to be fed and watered daily)!  Persian cats are a rare breed.  They have a personality more similar to a dog!  Persian cats know their names, will come when they are called, come to you for loving and petting, the most curious animals ever, and are very intelligent!  Persians have short bodies, hilarious smushed in faces with big eyes, and the beautiful, full fur coat that they are known for.  They are elegant, as well as comedians — a purrfect match!

How do I care for a Persian cat?

You might think that Persian cats would be a nightmare to keep groomed, but they're really not!  Persians have two layers of fur.  The outer layer is long and silky.  The under layer is puffy and more fine.  Problems arise when the under layer sheds and catches in the outer layer of the fur.  That causes mats, which, most of the time, have to be cut out.  To remedy all of this, you use a special comb which weeds out the fine hair.  A good combing every other day or so, and you have a beautiful cat to show off to your friends and family.

Should I de-claw my cat?

As for de-clawing, that is a matter of choice.  Please know that when a veterinarian "de-claws" your cat, he/she is actually cutting off the first digit of the cat's paw, rather than just removing the claws themselves.  Kind of like cutting your finger to the knuckle.  If you decide to have your cat de-clawed, never take off their back claws.  It's not necessary, and would put your cat in danger if it accidentally got outside and a dog got after it.  With their back claws, they can still climb a tree easily. The decision to de-claw is yours, as a cat owner.  However, remember that this is major surgery for your cat, and that the surgery should be done by a reputable veterinarian.
